Marketing trade show exhibits can really encompass a lot of different things. Even with all the right marketing the staff at the booth has to be on their toes. There have been times I’ve been at a booth and very interested in their product but a boring staffer made me rethink the whole thing. You can’t just send anyone to staff your booth. They may know about the product or service but unless they know how to engage the attendees you probably won’t get the best results.

I have just started a company of my own selling camping equipment. There are several exhibitions around the country that would certainly be worth while having a stand at. I have been toying with the idea of buying my own booth but I am not sure it is worth it yet. My company is new and we are trying to keep our expenses to a minimum. Reading some of the points you made about renting makes me think that this would probably be the best way to go.

The company I work for has a reasonably large budget for marketing, and most of it they spend on conventions. We have our own booth and we set it up in such a way that if someone walks in to it they see all of our products before leaving. The way we do it is have a large square area, and have 2 entrances to our booth. We fill the booth with our products around an “s” shaped walkway. This forces the traffic to follow the “s” and see all of our products before leaving the other side.
